preppy pink chair

ok so before the 4th of july, mr prk and i ran to target to get some things and i found the outdoor section of the store and fell in love with the pink coolers and the pink folding chairs!  i ended up not buying the cooler because we already have enough, but i bought the pink folding chair for only $8.99!  when i got it home, i took a good look at it and thought about how i could make it preppier.  i got out the whole puncher and navy blue and white polka dot ribbon and made it into this:

                 

i got so many compliments and i am planning on going back to get a couple more!  i also picked up some great pink and green cups to have for the summer!  i bought these preppy little ribbon tumblers last summer at tjmaxx ... love them.  

i had fun decorating for the 4th of the July ... and baking!

back from the bahama mamas...

i spent the last week at the atlantis resort in the bahamas ... wow.  

it was my first time there and i couldn't believe how big it was.  the resort is only 10 years old and it has everything you could possibly need to have the perfect "caribbean getaway".  i went with my good friends family and i actually went as the "nanny" for the 2 young children.  i really enjoyed being with their family, but came back knowing that i would like to go on a few more vacays with just me and mr. prk before adding little prk's in the mix.  its a lot of work to bring kids on vacatioN!  they had a 4 year old and a 5 month old.  i LOVE children and i can't wait to be a mom ... but in time.  we spent every day in the sun and every night at a new luxurious restaurant.  i loved NOBU ... so yummy!  it was so wonderful being with my friend, allison, because it is so hard to see friends now that we are all in the "real world".

he sure was a handful at times, but an adorable handful.  he had the most beautiful blue eyes ever.  his baby brother was just as cute.  their whole family was brunette, so i definitely stuck out with my blonde hair.  after drying my hair one night, the little boy said, "woah! why do you have WHITE hair?!?" ... very cute.  

mr. prk and i are trying to think of a fun getaway before he leaves on deployment at the end of the year ... any suggestions?!

beauty day!

well it is another rainy day in maine ... 

i am off to get my hair done in portland, which is so exciting, but i'm nervous at the same time!  its never easy going to someone new for your hair when you are used to someone else.  while working at j.crew, a girl with an adooorable haircut and the perfect blonde color came in, and i got the name of her stylist and my appointment is today at 3:30!  i used to go for the "kelly ripa look" then i went for the "jessica simpson look" and now i am going for the "reese witherspoon look" ... i love all of their colors.  i had bangs cut in february, but i am already over them and i have been growing my hair out since i got engaged, so i think i am going to get my hair shorter.  i want to get a cut like this, but a little bit longer ... 

                                                                  

she is so adorable.  i am so glad i was able to get an appointment before heading to the bahama's on monday!  yay!  speaking of the bahama's .. i got some great shorts at j.crew outlet yesterday!  they are having awesome sales right now ... i strongly suggest heading over to a store near you!  4th of july sales are always the best!  ok i am off to get stuff done before my appointment! have a good day!

another rainy day...

it is yet another rainy day here in maine ... puppy prk and i slept in and watched my faaavorite talk show, live with regis and kelly, while we listened to the rain.  mr. prk called a little bit ago and let me know that he is going to "chipotle" for lunch - not fair!  chipotle is our fav and maine has yet to discover them.  bummer.  i have the day off, so i am going to get stuff done around the house and go to the grocery later for some dinner.  i am craving grilled cheese and tomato basil soup!  but now, i have chipotle salad on my mind ... 

i do love "the bachelorette" ... i can't wait to see it tonight.  i was mad at her last week for giving jake the boot ... but he comes back tonight and i can't wait to see what comes of it.  they showed a shot of him in his pilot uniform ... veryyy cute!  i hope he comes back and i hope jillian finally sees that wes is not in it for "love".  

my mama is flight attendant and is coming back from a trip to china tonight!  ... she always finds fun stuff over there and i can't wait to hear what she got on this trip!  my bag selection has grown in such a happy way since she started flying to beijing.  now that i am married though... i want to get slipcovers made, preferably madras ... they have done a lot of sewing for my mom and dads house and everything is always perfect.  i am currently searching for some madras fabric at a reasonable deal to order ... 

and i really do want do this ...

life has been so crazy since moving to maine.  given our situation (a puppy and 6 month lease that will end in the middle of a maine winter), it took a while to find a place to live ... but we finally found an awesome townhouse (or a huge house made skinny) in freeport, which is conveniently walking distance to the outlets!  i got a job at the j.crew outlet and i really haven't made a penny, but mr. prk and myself are getting some cute new pieces of clothing ... i will definitely be posting pics of the deals at the greatest store ever whenever i can...

speaking of mr. prk, he has been so busy with his new squadron and is now gone for the week in florida to do some training.  we have a room mate, "brewgs", who just had to leave the country with some of the guys in the squadron for a month!  ... so happy mr. prk doesn't have to do that! .. well at least not now.  

life in maine is much different that life in florida and even maryland.  i like the experience of something different, but not sure if it is a place, i could live my "forever" in.  other than the constant rain and cold temps, it is beautiful though and we are adjusting well for the time we are here.  we have great new neighbors whom we have already had a yummy lobster bake with!  puppy prk is a big hit with them as well!  he is getting very big and has definitely been very expensive.. but still the love our lives. 

i have a busy week ahead with getting stuff done around the house, working a couple shifts at j.crew, and packing for my trip to the atlantis in the bahamas!  i am very lucky to be going with one of my bridesmaids families and i am actually going as their "nanny" for the young babies.  i can't wait!!  i leave a week from tomorrow for 5 days!  i promise to be back again sooner than i was before ... 

  

and so it begins...

Hello!  I am VERY new at this and not sure of exactly where to go next, but I am excited that I finally got myself to do it.  I got engaged during my first year of teaching Kindergarten in Maryland and don't miss the craziness of the year 2008 at all ... I planned my wedding on my own and wouldn't have done it any other way ... November 15, 2008 was the best day of my life ... full of family, friends, all of my favorite kindergarteners ... and most importantly ... monograms!  Our wedding and now US has become known as "PRK" ... we are "Mr. and Mrs. PRK" ...

I married a Navy Pilot, so I had to leave my life in Maryland to start a new life as "Mrs PRK" in Florida ... my husband, "Mr PRK", is a great man.  He is the best thing that has ever happened to me.  We just got a new puppy, Jackson, who I can't get enough of... I am sure he is starting to realize that his life is going to be full of love, treats, and really preppy doggy stuff!

Even though it seems like we just got to Florida, we are packing up and moving to Maine in just a few short weeks ... so this begins my adventures in blogging about my preppy.navy.newlywed life ...
